Get to know your College: Sarah Boyd

Sarah Boyd, Lecturer Rural InterProfessional Education, based at the Mt Gambier campus

Sarah has worked concurrently with Flinders University at the Mt Gambier campus and Mt Gambier Hospital for almost 10 years.

Drawing on her expertise as a Registered Nurse in the High Dependency Unit and coordinating nursing student placements she has led the Health Workforce Australia (HWA) Distributed Simulation Project, continued this work as the Simulation Coordinator, and extended her skills to support medical education as the Medical Education Officer and then as a critical member of the Regional Training Hub team since its inception in 2017.

Sarah’s contribution to increasing access to education and training for medical, nursing and allied health students across regional South Australia and South West Victoria has been recognised by being shortlisted for the SA Nursing & Midwifery Excellence Award of Clinical Educator of the Year and now, by the Nursing and Midwifery Office seconding Sarah back to a full-time role for 12 months to work as the Advanced Nurse Educator for the Limestone Coast Local Health Network. In this role Sarah will lead, coordinate and advise on education and training services, with a particular focus on the nursing and midwifery transition to professional practice programs.

Rural and Remote Health SA is keen to continue to work closely with Sarah to support our rural health workforce and look forward to her returning in 2023 with a set of new skills, knowledge and partnerships for our ongoing work with the LHN.
