Where did you work and / or study before joining CMPH / FHMRI?

Registered Nurse working in rural areas. Emergency nursing, Student, and graduate clinical facilitator have been a focus. Began my nursing career back in the days of hospital-based training (so been nursing for over 32 years)

What journey brought you to this point in your career?

With regular reflection of my own development and direction, I gradually drifted in the direction of student clinical facilitation and found it to be a rewarding experience. I was approached by a peer to help with the Medical student simulations one time and loved the experience then applied once she was leaving. As a part of the aging population in the workforce I wanted to be involved in the next generation to ensure that in my time of need I could be comfortable knowing the workforce is there for me. Working is a large part of life, and the only way to be truly happy is to do what you enjoy, the only way to enjoy work is to love what you do, this job provides that for me. Also, some extra study in management and clinical education has helped as well.

What is something you love most about your work?

Working closely with my colleagues, Being involved with the student development from year 1 -4, and watching them grow and develop into a doctor that I would want to see.

How do you like to relax or spend your spare time?

Take me to a quiet area by the beach or river, light a fire, cook a camp oven tea, and place a glass in my hand and I’ll be content to sit and read a book. High on the list now are cuddles and playing with my grandkids.
