Spotlight on the ICPOCT QAAMS Program impact on diabetes point-of-care testing

The 60th Anniversary of the Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemists (AACB) Conference held on 17-19 October 2023 at the Royal International Convention Centre, Brisbane, presented the perfect opportunity to showcase the achievements of the QAAMS Program (Quality Assurance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Medical Services) in an oral presentation session.

The program’s activities and impact of 24 years of diabetes point-of-care testing on Aboriginal medical services throughout the country was presented by the QAAMS Scientific Manager & Program Lead, Grant White, using a program logic model to summarise the Program’s clinical need, aims, activities, key outputs, end users, adoption pathway and impact. The presentation was on behalf of the QAAMS Program Management Group and the many staff who have contributed to the Program over 24 years.

This was a timely opportunity to promote the 25th Anniversary year, next year, of the QAAMS Program, which will be celebrated at the annual workshop at the Adelaide Convention Centre in May, 2024.
