Get to Know your College: Amy Godfrey

Amy recently joined the CMPH team as a P&C Business Partner after a 12-month parental leave. With over five years of experience in P&C at Flinders and a decade in recruitment, she brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to her role. Amy holds a Bachelor of Business (HR Management) and is passionate about enhancing the employee experience from start to finish. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family, attending live music events, and enjoying activities like watching the Crows play, beach outings, and reading.

What is your role and what does your work focus on?

I have just commenced with the team here in CMPH as a P&C Business Partner after returning from 12 months parental leave. I’m looking forward to seeing what the college has in store for me, as in this line of work, no two days are the same (variety IS the spice of life, or so they say!). Our work is people focussed and we are here to help with any queries related to staff, P&C policy, training and development and P&C projects, to name just a few. I’m a people person and a bit of a talker, but I also like to get things done, so the role is a good fit.

Where did you work and / or study before joining CMPH / Flinders?

I am new to CMPH, but have been around P&C at Flinders (CHASS and CNHS) for around 5 years now, and loved my time in both colleges. Before that, I was in the recruitment industry for over a decade. I completed my Bachelor of Business (HR Management) a few years ago after studying on and off while having my family and building my career.

What inspired you to pursue a career in your current field, and how has your passion evolved over time?

Truthfully, I fell into HR accidentally, and decided I liked it. I had worked in recruitment for a long time before I made the jump across to business partnering and haven’t looked back. What I love about P&C business partnering is the broad scope with many different functions but that it can also be specialised for those who choose to follow that path, the options are endless. My passion sits with the employee experience from beginning to end. I want to provide you with positive experiences from the day you start until the day you retire.

How do you like to relax or spend your spare time?

Spending time with my partner and kids (17, 6 and almost 1) keeps me on my toes. Some days I want to be around them every hour of the day and others I’d like to hop a flight to the other side of the globe – alone. 😉

I can’t get enough of live music, it is my passion and has been for the best part of 25 years! I love nothing more than standing in the middle of a crowd, watching a band I love and immersing myself in the atmosphere. And when I’m not with my family or at a gig, you’ll find me watching the crows play, at the beach (for a swim or just some fresh air) or reading a good book.
