The annual Flinders Riverland Open Night was held on Wednesday at the Renmark Campus and with more than 50 registrations, potential future students and their families, it was a lively and successful evening.
Presentations included Dr Ali Dymmott, presenting the Rural Allied Health program and other health disciplines at Flinders, Donelle Arthur, Nursing and Midwifery and Tori Edmonds presented the new SA Rural Medical Program to engaged audiences.
Current MDRS students, Nick Merritt and Sarah Turner spoke about their own pathways to Medicine and rural clinical year. Nick spent time in the military, then SA Police forensics, prior to studying Medical Science and now medicine. Sarah’s undergraduate degree was paramedicine, and the skills learnt have helped her in her chosen course. Both Nick and Sarah praised the support, training, opportunities and experience during their rural year and generously answered questions from the audience.
Big thank you to Sally Kloeden and the NHS team for their planning and expertise with the evening and we look forward to next year’s event, perhaps even bigger and better.
