New Paramedicine Students Begin Hands-On Training in the NT

Six new students kicked off their paramedicine degree in the Northern Territory this year and recently completed their first intensive training session.

The focus of this session was on managing medical cardiac arrests. Students learned essential skills including primary surveys, high-quality CPR, airway management, and ventilation. They also began developing their knowledge of patient assessments and vital sign monitoring.

During the intensive, students met their teaching staff, explored the training facilities, and connected with key partner St John Ambulance NT.

Looking ahead, their first major milestone will be clinical simulation exams in July. In semester two, they’ll begin learning how to assess and manage a range of medical and traumatic emergencies.
