Restart a Heart Day: Flinders Paramedicine Students Take Action

On Thursday, 16 October, Flinders University proudly participated in Restart a Heart Day, an annual initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the life-saving importance of CPR and early defibrillation in cases of cardiac arrest.

This year’s event took place in the heart of Adelaide at Rundle Mall, where Paramedicine students Charlotte Wilde, Shelley Afford, Grace Connolly, Jasmine Mcinerney, and BPARA Course Coordinator Shannon Macfarlane (all pictured) collaborated with the Council of Ambulance Authorities, SA Ambulance, St John SA, and Surf Life Saving to deliver hands-on CPR training and education about Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

Visitors had the opportunity to learn vital resuscitation skills, explore the inside of an ambulance, and connect with students and professionals dedicated to improving community health outcomes. The event was designed to be inclusive and engaging for all ages – children enjoyed colouring activities and cuddled up to special teddy bears with simulated ‘beating hearts,’ helping them understand the basics of heart health in a fun and approachable way.

A heartfelt thank you to our students who represented Flinders University at this important event.
