Riverland First Year Forum

The Flinders University Rural Health Society and Riverland Medical Student Society joined forces to celebrate the year that was at the Renmark Hotel. Students and graduates from medicine, allied health, nursing and paramedicine, currently working in the Riverland gave the evening a whole of health focus.

The weather was perfect with the event held on an upstairs balcony overlooking the Murray. It was well attended with guests dressed in their best, sharing great food, stories, a cocktail or two and a brilliantly organised forum. MC Dr James McLeod introduced speakers who shared truly authentic and heartwarming stories about their journey to chosen disciplines and first years working in healthcare, highlighting both the positive aspects and challenges of working in a rural location. Audience participation and questions for the speakers was well received.

Following the forum’s success, everyone is looking forward to more social and informative events  in 2026.
