Sharelle recently joined the CMPH College team a College Support Officer, where she will be supporting the Dean of Research, Professor Billie Bonevski. So far, Sharelle has enjoying getting to know the team and contributing to the work that supports and strengthens our research community.

Where did you work before joining CMPH?

Before joining CMPH, I held a dual role at The University of Adelaide (now Adelaide University). I worked as an Administration Coordinator for the School of Psychology, providing executive support to the Dean of School, while also working as an Administration Officer with a research group (Adelaide Health Technology Assessment) within the School of Public Health. It was a great mix of school and research support and gave me lots of valuable experience.

What journey brought you to this point in your career?

My career path has been a bit of a journey! After studying and working in real estate, taking on a range of other roles, and having a brief break following the birth of my first child, I began at The University of Adelaide as a casual Administration Assistant. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to progress through a variety of roles supporting research groups, Schools, and Deans across the University. A fellow colleague (who had previously worked here) suggested I apply for this role—and I’m really glad I listened.

What is something you love most about your work?

Without a doubt, it’s the people. I genuinely enjoy building relationships, learning how others work, and supporting them in ways that help them succeed. Being able to work with such a diverse range of people and contribute to a positive, collaborative environment is what makes the role so rewarding for me.

How do you like to relax or spend your spare time?

In my “spare time,” I’m usually busy being mum to my two wonderful children. Family plays a big role in my life—I have five sisters, so things are always lively! On the rare occasion I get some time to myself, I love getting crafty and spending time cooking and baking.
