The NT Regional Training Hub recently held its annual NT Medical Career Expo in Darwin on Tuesday 23 May. The event was dynamic and energetic, with medical students and prevocational doctors in attendance.
The expo provided an excellent networking opportunity for over 100 attendees to connect with exhibitors from 18 different organizations including specialist medical colleges, local clinicians, health service education units, workforce support agencies, and affiliated organisations.
Many exhibitors hosted interactive stations that allowed participants to experience a variety of medical scenarios. Attendees tried their hand at saving a life in the emergency ward, completing psychiatry assessment tools, intubating a patient, undertaking ear and eye examinations, and practicing their stitching, just to name a few.
The event was designed to provide participants with a glimpse into the diverse range of medical training and workforce pathways available, and to inspire and engage the next generation of healthcare professionals as to what was possible in the NT and beyond. Participants were thrilled to have the opportunity to experience different aspects of medical careers in a hands-on way.
The expo was deemed a success by attendees and exhibitors, and participants left feeling energised about their future vocation options. The NT Regional Training Hub looks forward to further advocating for, and supporting, our future workforce to enable them to pursue their passions.
