This semester five Masters of Social Work students are on placement in Oasis under the supervision of the School of Social Work. They are undertaking various projects, including giving support to other students who are using Oasis as a base for their own projects – like ‘Cultural Connections’ (above). Applying their theoretical study in practical ways in Oasis is proving to be a very valuable partnership.
The culmination of the engagement of the social work students in Oasis will come when they apply what they have been learning about hospitality as ‘Connectors’ at an International Conference on Well Being held at Flinders in July. Their role will be to lead a culturally diverse team of students who will engage hospitably with delegates of the conference.
