Art, Compassion and Care: Creative Expression at the End of Life

Art has a unique power to bring meaning, connection, and compassion to end-of-life care. In this seminar, Dr Daniel Connell, visual artist and senior art educator, shared insights from four projects exploring how creative expression can help people navigate the emotional and relational dimensions of dying, caring, and grief. Through his work with communities, carers, and people approaching the end of life, Dr Connell explained that art can foster understanding, ease fear of the unfamiliar, and create spaces for empathy and reflection in care settings.
