In response to the changes to teaching and learning in the first half of 2020 (and other first half of the year study periods) due to COVID-19, adjustments have been made to assessment and topic grading. The aim of these “no disadvantage” changes is to be equitable to all students. Please see below for a detailed list of all the changes to your assessment:
During Semester

Usual assessment context

After Final Examinations/Assessment
Examinations Board
Usual assessment
- Check distribution of grades/marks across cohort
- No amendments to grades awarded
New assessment for the first half of 2020
- Check distribution of grades/marks in comparison with previous years
- Where appropriate, amend grades for class (increase only)
Failed topic
Usual assessment
- Supplementary assessment for topic where achieved 45-49%
- Maximum of 50% for the topic
New assessment for the first half of 2020
- Supplementary assessment where students have made meaningful attempts at all assessment regardless of final grade
OR
- Opportunity to resubmit one key piece of assessment where appropriate
- For graded topics, a maximum of 50% will be awarded (or P for Non-graded topics)
Topic Grade
Usual assessment
Topics are graded according to appropriate grading system:
- graded (i.e. Pass – High Distinction) and grades contribute to overall grade point average
OR
- non-graded pass (NGP)
New assessment for the first half of 2020
- Topics graded according to usual grading system
- After results released, for graded topics, students have the option to select a non-graded pass (NGP) for the topic
- This will be via an online process to confirm change to grade
