Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan

Flinders University’s collective vision is to foster an environment that recognises and embraces Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, knowledges and cultures. This vision for reconciliation is grounded in the concepts of togetherness, reciprocity, and respect.

The path to reconciliation is a whole-of-University responsibility and as such, next week we are pleased to be launching the Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), in conjunction with 2020 Reconciliation Week.

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) runs annually from 27 May – 3 June. These dates mark two milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey: the 1967 referendum and the historic 1992 Mabo decision, respectively.

The development of the Flinders University Reconciliation Action Plan commenced in July 2019 and is a significant occasion both in the history of the University and in the broader national context, as momentum builds towards achieving genuine reconciliation.

The Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan can be viewed at flinders.edu.au/rap from Monday, 1 June.

To commemorate the launch of the Reconciliation Action Plan and National Reconciliation Week, a series of events will be hosted online from Wednesday, 27 May. We’re inviting students to join us to mark these significant milestones and to be a part of the next big steps in our nation’s reconciliation journey.
