Works on campus – 1 June 2022

Weed removal in car park 14 this Saturday

Contractors will be removing woody weeds on the upper level of car park 14 on Saturday 4 June. We expect works will start at 8am and continue until mid-late afternoon.

A number of car parks, including two access parks, will be temporarily unavailable on either side of the affected spaces so the works can be done safely. Please use the access parking options in nearby car parks 18 and 13, or behind the eastern side of the Sturt East building.

The work will also generate some noise and debris in the vicinity – please slow down and take care if moving through the space on the day and following any signage or directions.

Update on works in Social Sciences North

The learning space upgrades to SSN 102 and 242 are progressing well. Fencing is now in place around the worksite, meaning that there is no access to the external stairs from Humanities Road and Courtyard to SSN Courtyard. Please walk through the SSN building foyer and use the lift or internal stairs. Note that the ramp from the upper level of car park 5 to the SSN courtyard remains open.

Please be aware that the following works are expected to take place this weekend:

  • Electrical service outage in SSN Level 1 – removal of electrical switchboard. This will affect rooms 105 and 106, and power won’t be available during this time.
  • Demolition of steps outside SSN 102 to begin the accessibility upgrade.

It’s expected that most of these works will happen between 7am Saturday 4 June and 5pm Sunday 5 June. There will be minor disruptions in the area during these times, including noise and vibration during demolition, restrictions to pedestrian access and electrical outages. Please take care if you will be in the area and follow any directions or signage in place.

At this stage, we expect that this project will be completed by end July 2022.
