MFA protects you and Flinders.
Passwords alone are no longer sufficient to protect against skilled cyber attackers. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring you to verify your identity using two or more of the following factors:
- Something you know (password/PIN) and
- Something you have (mobile device/authentication app/authentication device)
- Something you are (fingerprint/ facial recognition)
MFA helps you to prevent:
- Unauthorised access to your account
- Data breaches and identity theft
- Misuse of Flinders’ systems
What you need to do?
- Ensure MFA is set up on your account. Please refer MFA guides given in
https://students.flinders.edu.au/support/computing/mfa
- Keep your authentication devices secure
- Approve login requests only if you initiated them
- Do not share your password or verification codes with anyone
- Report any unexpected MFA prompts immediately
If you receive unexpected MFA prompts or notice anything suspicious, please contact the Information & Digital Services (IDS) Service Desk by calling (08) 8201 2345 or emailing ictsecurity@flinders.edu.au
