MDPP Networking Event: Avenues and considerations for entering global markets

MDPP portFlinders University’s Medical Device Partnering Program (MDPP) invite you to attend the next MDPP Networking event to hear from start-ups and established medical device companies who will share their experiences on entering new markets.

Hear some of the lessons learnt, success/perils and experiences from local medical device companies as well as some experts who will help explain some of the considerations and avenues for exporting health technology products overseas.

Mr Allan Perriam – Director – INNOVO Healthcare
Allan is the inventor of the U-stand Frame, a mobility assistance device that hands the control of sit-to-stand transfer back to the user.  In 2015, Allan was selected to ‘pitch’ his product as part of the 2015 Global Startup Spotlight at the Aging 2.0 AgeTech Expo in San Francisco, USA.

Mr Chris Henry – General Manager – Austofix Pty Ltd
Chris Henry is the General Manager of Austofix, a leading South Australian company specialising in the development of orthopaedic trauma implants and instrumentation.  Chris will share some of Austofix’s experiences and strategies for entering the Middle East with their trauma medical device products.

Mr Ben Olsen – Managing Director – Re-Time Pty Ltd
This Flinders start up was launched in 2012. Their first product, Re-Timer, helps frequent flyers and shift workers adjust their sleep cycle. They are an export success story with 85% of local production being sent to 40 countries. The USA, China and Netherlands are their largest markets.  Ben will share the challenges he faced taking a prototype from sleep lab to world markets.

Mr Todd Martin – Director – Eagar & Martin Pty Ltd
When operating in global markets it is important that you have adequate protection for your product and this protection can vary from country to country.  Todd will share some insider tips for navigating the U.S. patent process specifically.

Patrick Kearins – State Director, South Australia – Australian Trade Commission (Austrade)
