Careers and Employability: Virtual offerings to supercharge ‘career-readiness’

We know many students reach out to teaching staff to get advice and insights into career opportunities and help with deciphering where their degrees can lead.

To assist you in providing up to date insight, here is a highlight of some of the new virtual activities and resources for your reference, to support our students becoming ‘career ready’.

Day in The Life – Webinar Series
Students listen to and interact with industry representatives across a broad range of sectors virtually, to gain insight into day to day tasks and skills required in their field of work. This series is designed to enable students to conduct their own career research and try a range of jobs on for size.

Employer in Residence – Webinar Series
Human resource practitioners and graduate recruitment experts share information about programs available to students and soon-to-be graduates. This series enables students to find out how and when to apply and to understand how they will be assessed throughout the recruitment process.

Sessions are recorded and available via the new Careers and Employability FLO topic.

Resources
The Australian labour market has significantly changed and there are areas of skilled and unskilled work that are in demand.

A new page on Career Hub is being updated regularly to link students to:

  • High growth casual and graduate employment
  • Virtual internships
  • Virtual volunteering

Career Hub is available to students and teaching staff. To access, add the app to your OKTA dashboard and log in.

Continued online workshops
Job searching and graduate application workshops are available to support students, which include the opportunity to connect with career consultants.

Horizon Professional Development Award workshops have moved online, and we have seen a marked increase in participation in the program.
