The SA Science Excellence and Innovation Awards showcase the critical importance of science, research and innovation to the development of industry and society. They provide an opportunity to recognise the work of inspiring Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) leaders and teams working in research and education institutions, schools, industry and the community. 

Award categories include: 

• Awards for Science Excellence:  South Australian Scientist of the Year Award;  PhD Research Excellence Award 
• Award for Excellence in Science and Industry Collaboration 
• Award for Excellence in Innovation and Translation:  South Australian Innovator of the Year 
• Awards for Innovation in STEMM Teaching:  STEMM Educator of the Year (two awards – School Teaching and Tertiary Teaching) 
  

Two outstanding Flinders staff were recent winners: 

• Innovator of the Year: Associate Professor Justin Chalker 
• STEMM Educator of the Year – University or RTO Teaching:  Professor Giselle Rampersad
