My topic is not transitioning to Canvas yet, what can I do to get involved and learn?

We would like to encourage you to undertake the following recommendations, so you are well prepared when the time comes to transition to Canvas.

  • Request a sandpit if you don’t already have one. Visit the Canvas website and scroll down a little until you see the red Request a sandpit button. This is a space you can use to begin exploring the Canvas environment, test building activities and become more familiar with the way tools interact.
  • Request to join the Canvas Community of Practice (this can be done at the same time as requesting a sandpit). If you already have a sandpit and didn’t request to join the Community of Practice, you can self-enrol using this link. This is a space for you to connect with other staff across the University to collectively understand how Canvas works and problem solve issues along the way. It’s facilitated by one of our Learning Designers and many members are staff with previous experience using Canvas.
  • Prepare for a smooth migration of your topic when the time comes by making sure it is in the FLO Starter Site. If your topic is not already in the starter site, you can make a request via ‘a FLO query’ in Service One.

Our next opt-in window is scheduled for early 2023 and you will again be invited to submit your topic(s) for consideration then.

If you have any questions, please email canvas@flinders.edu.au.
