Learning Management System (LMS) Review Requirements Workshops, will be held in March 2019. The purpose of these workshops is to assess the 5 Learning Management Systems under review: Brightspace, Canvas, Learn Ultra, Open LMS and our existing FLO. Contact dststeam@flinders.edu.au and register your interest.
To perform this assessment, we have identified a number of Business Requirements and categorised them into Themes, they are:
- Accessible, engaging and user-friendly interface
- Alignment with University structure and governance
- Communication, feedback provision and internal collaboration
- Content creation, sharing and re-use
- Digital credentialing, short courses and non-award courses
- Learning analytics and reporting
- Multiple assessment options
- Open, extensible and device agnostic
- Strategic and teaching objectives
- Work integrated learning and external collaboration
Workshops will focus on the specific LMS functionalities which fall within that thematic area.
Required prework
Please be aware, pre-work includes accessing the candidate systems, navigate through them and test the functionalities, assessing whether they respond to the Business Requirements or not and recording a score from 1 to 5 for each requirement, and provide some qualitative comments if required. The list of business requirements and the template to assign scores will be available at least 2 weeks before the workshop sessions start.
On the day of the workshop
We will have a discussion on each system and requirements, based on pre-work, and we will agree on a final score per requirement per system (majority rules).
Qualitative comments will be recorded as well, and – together with the agreed scores – will be taken in consideration when forming the final recommendation.
