Understanding our emotions

I do not know much information about this nurse, but her kindness is still with me six years on. My father had a minor heart attack, that turned out much worse than we originally were told. It was a public holiday and I was due to go to work as a disability support worker. I was quite emotional and struggling with leaving the hospital. This nurse saw me and my mum talking and Mum struggling to calm me. She took time from her break to reassure us, while understanding our emotions. She was able to calm me and leave me feeling reassured that my dad was in the best place possible and had a good chance of making it through. The rest of my dad’s time in hospital, even when he changed wards, she took the time to check in on us, and see how I was coping with everything. Her care for my whole family was amazing and extended far beyond her job.
