Cancer Voices in collaboration with Health Translation SA are starting a regular ‘walk & talk’ group every Friday lunchtime, starting at 12.30 from SAHMRI foyer, walking along the river. Initially heading towards the Adelaide Uni footbridge, so people at the Frome Rd end of town can join in at the footbridge at about 12.50pm if that suits better.
Researchers, cancer survivors … come along and take the opportunity for informal networking, idea sharing and idea generating while walking…. but ’talking shop’ isn’t mandatory! This is a totally flexible arrangement to come when/ if you can – just turn up.
We know this is a good idea. In mid-2015 Chris Christensen started up the Cancer Voices walking group in Belair National Park. Researchers often join in, and everyone learns a lot from each other … about all sorts of things! This group walks every Tuesday, 9.30-10.30 starting from the carpark of the former Belair Golf Club, which has a side gate entrance to enter Belair national park.
It would be so good if the cancer community in Adelaide can benefit from novel ideas born out of walking and talking.
