Putting Indigenous Communities at the Centre

How can we ensure that Indigenous communities are at the heart of – and benefit from – Australian research? The Science Meets Parliament panel, chaired by Poche SA+NT Director Associate Professor Kalinda Griffiths, discussed the importance of collaboration, respect and sovereignty in research initiatives involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait peoples.

Leading experts including Associate Professor Summer-May Finlay, Tegan Miller, Associate Professor Ray Tobler, spoke about frameworks for meaningful engagement in both research and policy, sharing successful case studies, and discussing how prioritising Indigenous perspectives and equity enhances research outcomes and fosters mutual understanding and respect in Science and Technology in Australia.

Participants gain valuable insights into effective engagement strategies with policymakers, while federal Parliamentarians have the opportunity to connect with leading experts in science and technology.
