Eating disorders are not a choice, rather are serious illnesses and in fact, have one of the highest mortality rates of any mental illness.
Researchers worldwide, including Professor Tracey Wade, are seeking volunteers with lived experience of eating disorders to participant in the world’s largest investigation into the genetics of eating disorders.
The global Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative (EDGI) aims to identify hundreds of genes that influence a person’s risk of developing anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder, to improve treatment and ultimately save lives.
