Southgate Oration 2013

The fifth Southgate Oration on Thursday 17 October 2013 will be delivered by Rob Moodie, Professor of Public Health at the University of Melbourne’s School of Population and Global Health.

The Oration will held from 4.30 to 5.45pm in Lecture Theatre 1.01 of the  Health Sciences Lecture Theatre Complex.

Professor Moodie first worked in refugee health care in the Sudan with Save the Children Fund and MSF, and later for Congress, the Aboriginal Community controlled health service in Alice Springs. He was the inaugural Director of Country Support for UNAIDS in Geneva from 1995-98, and was CEO of Vic Health from 1998-2007. He also chaired the National Preventative Health Taskforce from 2008-2011, which championed plain packaging and tobacco taxation.
