Courage Through a Lens

In January 2013 at age 27, Kiki van de Laar was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. A professional photographer, she decided to document every aspect of her breast cancer journey at Flinders Medical Centre, resulting in the e-book Courage Through a Lens. On October 17, 2013, Kiki found out her cancer had spread to her brain and spine and sadly Kiki passed away in November.

Flinders University, together with the help of Flinders Medical Centre, is now hosting the Courage Through a Lens exhibition.

The photographic exhibition, which includes 19 of Kiki’s courageous photos, runs until February 7 at Flinders University Victoria Square (Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm).
