  • File services will be unavailable.

Why Will There Be An Outage?

Flinders University is undertaking a $14million project to improve how Bedford Park students and staff can connect locally and globally. The Connecting Flinders project aims to provide more opportunities for:

  • access to high performance wireless connections anywhere anytime across the Bedford Park campus
  • advanced Teaching and Learning environments through improved and more reliable online learning opportunities and increased access to out of class learning with better tools for social collaboration
  • remote collaboration through better video conferencing facilities – improving accessibility and interaction with remote staff, students and other organisations
  • readiness for future Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) capabilities and efficiently accessible Advanced Research through state-of-the-art infrastructure, systems and techniques.

Realising the benefits that Connecting Flinders will deliver takes time and some disruption. Information Technology Services will continue to engage people across Faculties and Buildings to ensure you are aware of disruptions and every consideration has been given to ensuring the impact is minimal.

Future outages

The current outage is the first major step in the network refresh which should be complete by the end of August 2014. Information Technology Services will endeavour to choose outage times that minimise potential impact on University business.
