Dennis McDermottInnovative Flinders teaching projects have won more than $560,000 in the latest round of funding from the Federal Government’s Office for Learning and Teaching.

Two of the three grants are in the form of a National Teaching Fellowships, made to experienced educators who demonstrate ongoing leadership in higher education; the third will fund a project “with potential for lasting positive impact on the quality of teaching and learning”.

A National Senior Teaching Fellowship worth $250,000 has been awarded to Professor Dennis McDermott (pictured), Director of the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health and Wellbeing; Professor Joe Shapter of the School of Chemistry, Physics and Earth Sciences was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship worth $90,000; and Dr Julian Grant of the School of Nursing and Midwifery will lead a multi-institutional team, including three other Flinders staff, that has received a project grant of $223,000.
