Customising ABS data on Disability, Ageing and Carers

The Australian Bureau of Statistics will present a hands-on guide to using the recently released TableBuilder for the 2012 Survey of Disability, Ageing and Carers (SDAC).

This will include an overview of key survey concepts and methods, and an insight into the power of TableBuilder for further analysis. For example: producing estimates across multiple levels of data, drilling down to small populations, customising variables, and using basic statistical functionality like means, medians and quantiles.

What’s SDAC all about? The survey collects information from three target populations; people with disability, older people (65 years and over), and people who care for people with disability or older people.Data from this survey is used to measure the prevalence of disability in Australia, measure the need for support of older people and those with disability, and provide a demographic and socio-economic profile of people with disability, older people and carers compared to the general population.
