Illicit Networks workshop

The Centre for Crime Policy and Research is hosting the 6th Annual International Illicit Network Workshop (INW) from 11 to 12 December, 2014 at Flinders University, Victoria Square.

INW is a group of scholars from Australia, Canada, the USA, the UK and elsewhere that share a research interest in the use of network analysis in furthering the understanding of the activities of individuals, groups and organisations engaged in organised crime, crime gangs, transnational crime, terrorism and corruption. While some members draw heavily on Social Network Analysis, other use alternative methods of studying illicit networks including ethnography.

The program includes a keynote address from Associate Professor Andrew V Papachristos from the Department of Sociology, Yale University, whose research focuses on social networks, neighbourhoods, street gangs and interpersonal violence. Hr has worked with city and state level agencies in the United States and has applied network science to understanding Chicago’s gun violence epidemic.

We have a number of individuals attending from key government agencies around Australia with places still available.

Early-bird registrations are open until 21 November.
