US ChinaThe Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences will present the next in its Professionals’ Lecture Series by Professor Martin Griffiths, Dean, School of International Studies at 4pm on Tuesday, 26 May.

The lecture, US-China Relations: Should Australia Be Worried?, will be held at Flinders University Victoria Square.

For many commentators, these are worrying times for Australian foreign policy-makers. A particular dilemma is that we have close security relations with the United States but close economic ties with China. In this lecture, Professor Griffiths provides a critical overview of the conventional wisdom expressed about Australia’s foreign policy in relation to this dependence on both the United States and China.

Until his appointment in August 2014, Professor Griffiths was Head of the School of Government and International Relations at Griffith University, where he worked from 2006 to 2014. He is a graduate of the London School of Economics (BSc Hons), Keele University (MA), and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada (PhD) and  has published widely on international relations.
