Artist Danie Mellor to give Ruth and Vincent Megaw lecture

The Ruth and Vincent Megaw Leture in Archaeology and Art for 2015 will be given by Danie Mellor, an award-winning Australian artist who maintains strong links to his mothers country on the Atherton Tablelands in far North Queensland.

Receiving a doctorate from the National Institute of the Arts, Australian National University in 2004, he joined the staff of Sydney University in 2005, now dividing his time there with studio-based practice in Canberra. Encompassing drawing, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture, Mellor’s work is concerned with the vexed and interwoven histories of Australia’s Indigenous and settler culture.

The lecture will be held on Thursday, 30 July at 5.30pm in Room 1, Level 1 of Flinders University Victoria Square.

RSVP is essential as seats are limited. Contact: kerry.ludwig@flinders.edu.au
