Patient Care Ethics Committee seeks lay member

Do you have a genuine interest in clinical ethical issues, an excellent understanding of privacy and confidentiality, availability to attend at least six scheduled meetings a year, and a willingness to contribute to the discussion of urgent individual cases or issues in patient care ethics?

If so, and you’re also a doctor, nurse, midwife, allied health worker, clinical risk manager, lay person, patient ethicist or layperson with suitable legal expertise, the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) would like to hear from you.

WCHN is looking for an enthusiastic and committed external lay member to the Patient Care Ethics Committee (PCEC).

The PCEC is a clinical ethics committee which provides independent advice to clinicians and clinical teams about ethical issues pertaining to patient care and policy.

A lay member is understood to have no affiliation with the WCHN or be currently engaged in medical, scientific, legal, or health/ethics academic work.

The term of appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of reappointment for a further three year term. The position is honorary.

For further information please contact Dr Tamara Zutlevics (8161 6149). The closing date for applications will be Friday 28 August.

Please note that the successful applicant will need to undergo a Department of Communities and Social Inclusion police clearance and sign a confidentiality agreement prior to taking up the position.
