Health and safety events and resources for September

Here are some health awareness events and resources for September complied by the Work Health and Safety Unit:

  • Blue September, a campaign to raise awareness about cancer in men.
  • National Asthma Awareness Week, 1-7 September.
  • Women’s Health Week, 7-11 September – dedicated to all women to make good health a priority.
  • R U OK? Day, 11 September – a suicide prevention campaign to remind people to ask family, friends and colleagues the question, R U OK.

  • National Stroke Week, 14-20 September.
  • World Heart Day, 29 September – encourages us all to reduce our cardiovascular risk, and promotes a heart-healthy planet for those around us.

Bupa Pedometer Challenge – A fun and interactive online exercise program aimed at encouraging healthy behaviours within the workplace. Get your walking shoes on, the Bupa Pedometer Challenge will be on again starting middle of October, further details coming.

Smoking and resilience survey, The Discipline of Public Health is recruiting participants to participate in a study of resilience to stress for individuals who have never smoked, ex-smokers and current smoker

Oasis A University Centre for hospitality, wellbeing and inclusive spirituality that aims to inspire a culture of care.

Flinders One Fitness also runs health and fitness programs with special offers.
