Whimsical and surreal yet provocative, ‘Wunderkammer: The Cabinet of Wonders’ is the new exhibition at the Flinders City Gallery, opening on December 5.
The touring exhibition by Sydney-based artist Rod McCrae uses repurposed taxidermy, creating unsettling vignettes to cast light on the critical issues of population, pollution and climate change.
Flinders Art Museum Director, Ms Fiona Salmon says despite the animals being mute, the exhibition has both bark and bite.
“It compels us to face our responsibilities as inhabitants of a shared planet,” she said.
The exhibition runs until February 7. The City Gallery is open from 11am to 4pm Tuesday to Friday, and on weekends from noon to 4pm.
