Flinders staff and students of days past will remember a lively Tavern with celebrated bands, well-earned beverages and good old pub meals. The Hub reincarnation of Flinders’ Tavern has arrived, offering all this and more with assistance from the acclaimed Burger Theory.

Open this week on level 1 of the refurbished Union Building, the Tavern boasts views across the lake and ocean, a bar stocked with local craft beers, an open-air balcony and a fascinating wall mural from renowned Adelaide street artist Vans the Omega.

Burger Theory owners Rob Dean and Dan Mendelson, themselves Flinders alumni, say they see their role as custodians.

“We’re keen to make this an exciting and inviting space for the entire Flinders community,” says Dan.

“We’ll have an extended menu with a bunch of affordable options, and a drinks list with a strong local flavour.”

The Tavern is open from 2 to 6pm today (Tuesday) and from noon to 6pm for the rest of the week, before commencing normal trading hours which are available on the Hub website.
