Opportunity to build on Colombo Plan success

In 2016, Flinders was awarded an outstanding $772,200 of funding for outbound student mobility under the New Colombo Plan mobility program, providing 192 students with an opportunity to study abroad in the Indo-Pacific region.

In 2017, approximately $20 million will be available to support even more student experiences across a broader range of Indo-Pacific locations. Funding is available to undergraduate students for projects comprising study (semester or short term), practicums, clinical placement or research, as well as funding to the University for administrative costs.

The Department has indicated a priority for applications that include private sector in-kind support or financial sponsorship; longer term study (semester length) that includes language study and internships; the option to scale up or down, and diversity in destination countries.

Further information about the New Colombo Plan can be found on the Information for Staff section of the Learn Without Borders website (access using a FAN).

The International Centre will work with Faculties and project leads to promote the scholarships to students. An information session to outline the application process and to answer questions will be held on Friday, 18 March at 3pm in Humanities North Lecture Theatre 2.
