Jocelyn’s German performance takes her to the Paralympics

NeumullerFlinders medical sciences student Jocelyn Neumueller’s eighth placing in her 200-metre kayak sprint race at the World Paracanoe Championships  has earned her a place in the Rio Paralympics.

Reporting on the final day of competition in Duisburg, Germany, Australian Canoeing magazine said it was “an incredible performance from the South Australian after she only took up the sport six months ago”.

Medals went to athletes Curtis McGrath, Susan Seipel and Amanda Reynolds with Colin Sieders taking a fourth place, and extra quota positions for Australia were earned by Ms Nuemueller and 16-year-old Dylan Littlehales.

The successes mean six Australians will be competing in paracanoe when the sport makes its Paralympics debut later this year.
