Aboriginal delegation shares ideas and knowledge at Flinders

The Office of Indigenous Strategy & Engagement (OISE) has hosted Aboriginal staff and the Aboriginal Elder in Residence from the Riawunna Centre for Aboriginal Education, along with a colleague from the University of Tasmania’s Student Learning team.

The delegation spent a day at Flinders, yesterday, a day at Wiltu Yarlu, University of Adelaide, and a day at Wirringka Student Services, University of South Australia.

They shared best practice for Indigenous pathways to university, and discussed the provision of academic support, Indigenous knowledges, and the student experience in general.

The visit to Flinders, which was hosted by  Simone Ulalka Tur and Ali Gumillya Baker from OISE, began with a walking tour of the Flinders’ Yara artwork and the accompanying words from the Kaurna Community.

After the sharing of ideas and knowledge, the delegation were taken to visit the culturally significant site at Colebrook Blackwood Reconciliation Park.
