Flinders drama alumnus Dr Alex Vickery-Howe’s new play, Out of the Ordinary, opens this week at the Bakehouse Theatre in Adelaide’s CBD for a two-week run, 4-15 October 2016.

Directed by Joh Hartog and presented by Accidental Productions, the cast features a number of current Flinders students and graduates: Maya Aleksandra, Steph Clapp, Brendan Cooney, Robbie Greenwell, Alec Hall, Mikayla Lynch, Jo Pugh and Noma Mpala. Set and costume design by Kirsty Martinsen and Casey van Sebille.

Out of the Ordinary offers a warm, humorous examination of the ways we amplify everyday experiences to heighten their emotional intensity and make them worthy of dramatic replay—in blogs, tweets, Facebook, YouTube, etc. Obsessed with novelty and afraid of the ordinary, we chase the extraordinary even if we have to manufacture it ourselves.
