eNVIe finalists set for showdown

Flinders engineering student Tenzin Crouch, and his TK Smart Tech concept, is among the finalists in this week’s Flinders New Venture Institute (NVI) Semester 2 eNVIe Awards.

The Tonsley based student has developed a combined package of ground and aerial sensors which enable viticulturists and broadacre farmers to accurately assess crop health and reduce resource wastage be delivering precise amount of waters, pesticides and nutrients to specific areas as required.

Other graduates from the latest Venture Dorm program will present at the award ceremony at Alere Function Centre at Flinders University’s Bedford Park, from 6pm on Thursday 3 November (register here).

More than 40 entrants and seven finalists will compete for a prize pool valued at almost $100,000 – including further business development and mentoring services. Judging panel includes local business leaders including Matt Salier, Director NVI, Adele Flego, from Chiliad Consulting, Jenny Paradiso (Sunrix), Ming Ma (Bing Boy), Grace Lever (female entrepreneur adviser), Damien Crough (Imaginext).

The other finalists are:
Sam Hastwell & Michael Ewer (Edge VR) – A South Australian start-up with a vision to bring Virtual Reality technology to students within R-7 schools through a  mobile VR laboratory.
Stephanie Small (Liven your Home) – with large-scale detachable artwork for the sliding doors of build-in wardrobes.
Dana Bell (Soulful Kids) – offering a suite of positive programs to help pre-school and primary school-aged children.
Steve and Wendy Turner (Tradie SOS) – a real-time app to answer technical questions and explain regulations to gasfitters and plumbers around Australia.
Melissa Little (VENYU) – a digital disruptive model for wedding planners, brides and grooms to find the best venue for their special day.
Lisa Fraser (Meal Mates) – an online platform to connect people with food.
