Lowitja O’Donoghue Oration 2017

This year’s Lowitja O’Donoghue Oration features Fr. Frank Brennan SJ AO, who will be presenting “On Aboriginal Land: Seeking a Place at the Table. Recognising 50 years since the 1967 Referendum.”

The presentation will be followed by “Freedom Songs: The Unfinished Business of the 1967 Referendum.”

About Fr. Frank Brennan SJ AO

Fr. Frank Brennan SJ AO is an Australian Jesuit priest, human rights lawyer and academic. Frank is currently the CEO of Catholic Social Services Australia.  He is known for his 1998 involvement in the Wik debate when Paul Keating called him “the meddling priest” and the National Trust classified him as a Living National Treasure. Brennan has a longstanding reputation of advocacy in the areas of law, social justice, refugee protection and Aboriginal reconciliation. His books on Aboriginal issues include The Wik Debate, One Land One

Presented by the Don Dunstan Foundation, in collaboration with Reconciliation SA, Finders University, The University of Adelaide and the South Australian Government Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation Division.
