Flinders drama graduates come home to rehearse

A theatre company comprised entirely of Flinders drama graduates will be on campus from 18 September-6 October rehearsing their new show, Angelique.

Called isthisyours?, the company will be undertaking rehearsals at their old stomping ground, the Matthew Flinders Theatre, before their show premiers at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Grote Street, Adelaide.

Seven more recent creative arts graduates from the Flinders Drama Centre will be given the opportunity to spend two weeks working intensively with the members of isthisyours? and will be part of the premier season, with a view to developing an ongoing relationship with the company.

isthisyours? was launched in 2007 by Jude Henshall, Louisa Mignone, Nadia Rossi, Ellen Steele and Tessa Leong who have been collaborating every since they first met as students at the Flinders Drama Centre.

The theatre company was recently named as the recipient of the 2017 Capacity Building Program for South Australian Artists and Arts Organisations awarded by the Sidney Myer Fund and the James and Diana Ramsay Foundation.

Angelique, the company’s largest work to date, was written by Duncan Graham and designed by Jonathon Oxlade.

Tessa Leong is the Director.

The show will feature Jude, Louisa, Nadia and Ellen with a total cast of thirteen.

Angelique is the story of a young girl, Angelique, who is beginning to see the world crack open in front of her very eyes.

Her sister is missing, her parents are acting like strangers and a talking bird haunts her day and night.

Angelique is an immersive theatrical work described as ‘Alice in Wonderland-esque’.

It was specifically created with Her Majesty’s Theatre in mind.

Presented by Insite Arts and the Adelaide Festival Centre as part of the inSPACE Program, Angelique will run at Her Majesty’s Theatre from 13–21 October 2017.
