Flinders number one in blood challenge

Congratulations Flinders! Staff and students who participated in the 2018 Tertiary Blood Challenge can give themselves a huge pat on the back following the impressive news that the University has come first in South Australia, both for most donations and most new donors in the initiative.

Students and staff made a total of 452 donations over the period of the challenge, saving up to 1356 lives and bringing in 36 new blood donors. This incredible effort will make a real difference to people in need.

The Red Cross Society thanked Flinders on the behalf of Australia’s patients. “We understand what this involved and truly appreciate it. Without dedicated volunteers like you, Australia’s patients wouldn’t get the blood products they need.”

The wide embracing of this important initiative reflects the University’s commitment to health issues in the community and its inspiring culture of community engagement and support among its staff and students.

Final state and national results can be viewed on the Australian Red Cross Tertiary Challenge website.
