A fresh approach to war crime

A recently launched book, compiled and edited by Associate Professor Ben Wadham and Professor Andrew Goldsmith, provides a fresh, interdisciplinary approach to the topic of military criminologies, including contributions from leading experts in the field.

While criminologists have previously examined the military in the context of war crimes, Criminologies of the Military: Militarism, National Security and Justice features some of the less explored aspects – such as private military actors, insurgents, paramilitary groups and the role of military forces in tackling transnational crime. The book also considers how the military harbours criminal activity within its own ranks and deals with prisoners of war.

Published by Hart Publishing, the book is available in hardback or as an e-book.
