Evo-Devo in the pub for Science Week

Celebrate Science Week with fellow science (and natural history) enthusiasts at Palaeo in the Pub this week, featuring special guest speaker Dr Vera Weisbecker who is a University of Queensland lecturer and researcher in the field of developmental biology.

Dr Weisbecker leads a lab that seeks to explain the evolutionary story of today’s diverse land vertebrates through the lens of developmental biology.

Evolutionary developmental biology  (popularly coined ‘Evo-Devo’) is the search for developmental rules that shape vertebrate diversity and is relevant to people working in fields as diverse as vertebrate reproduction, ecology or behaviour.

Dr Weisbecker will present on aspects of her research that include brain development, and evolution of the middle ear and limbs – all tailored to a general audience.

Inline with Palaeo in the Pub tradition, light nibbles will be provided and happy hour drink specials available to purchase on the night.

The event is open to the public (with parking free after 6pm) and has been made possible thanks to National Science Week, Big Science Adelaide and Inspiring SA.
