Teaching awards open, including new innovation award

Applications are now open for Flinders University’s 2018 Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching, and the inaugural Vice-Chancellor’s Innovation in Teaching Awards.

This year a new awards initiative has been launched to celebrate teaching innovation, complementing the established Vice-Chancellor’s awards that recognise exceptional teaching across the University.

Applications for both awards close on 10 December 2018.

2018 Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching

Up to three awards will be offered recognising exceptional teaching practice by individuals and teams across the University.

Staff who are committed to teaching excellence and can provide evidence of outstanding teaching practice are encouraged to apply for a Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Each winner (either individual or team) will be presented with a certificate and receive a prize of $5,000. All award recipients are also supported to apply for national teaching awards.

Interested staff are invited to contact awards.grants@flinders.edu.au in the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching.

Further information can be found on the website; please read the guidelines carefully, as they have changed.

2018 Vice-Chancellor’s Innovation in Teaching Awards

Up to six awards will be offered, recognising teaching innovations designed to improve student learning in online, blended or face-to-face courses.

Submissions need to be in the form of a 3-5 minute video and demonstrate an innovative approach to teaching and learning pertaining to either curriculum design or teaching practice/delivery.

Each winner (either individual or team) will be presented with a certificate and receive a prize of $2,000.

Support for submissions will be provided by the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching. Please contact awards.grants@flinders.edu.au for information about the award and for any support required.
