Managing our precious resources

Visiting Professor Makoto Taniguchi from Japan’s Research Institute for Humanity and Nature will present a free public seminar on the water-energy-food relationship and the integrated approach required to manage these precious resources.

Water, energy, and food (WEF) are fundamental resources and interlinked, requiring integrated management and governance.

The International Belmont Forum project on Urban WEF Nexus has initiated the development of an interconnecting model to analyse the WEF nexus structure and assess environmental and economic impacts.

Professor Taniguchi has worked on groundwater projects around the world and is currently the President of the Japanese Association of Groundwater Hydrology and has served as coordinator of the UNESCO graphic Project and Vice-President of the International Committee of Groundwater.
