On your marks, get set

PhD students are preparing for the annual Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition, which will see candidates develop critical communication skills as they progress through heats and aim to take home one of several cash prizes or the ultimate international travel grant.

The 3MT is a transnational competition for university students, requiring PhD candidates to present on their thesis topic in a succinct manner to engage a broad audience.

Students are judged on their ability to engage a non-specialised audience in their research, staying true to its significance and purpose – skills that will be valuable to their future careers.

Flinders University has been a long-standing participant in the competition and encourages staff and students to attend the events and support participants.

First round heats will commence on 3 July, and semi-finals on 15 August.
